Shootin' the Breeze

Broken Hearts

Shootin' the Breeze

Broken hearts don’t work the same

As they did before the break.

The trusting parts will never heal.

The wounds will always ache.

Stabs of betrayal leave holes

Through which joy flows out.

It’s more than one can bear

When loyalty’s in doubt.

  1. Painful wounds are what we share
Placing them in God’s merciful care.
His love alone can heal when we trust
In His loyalty to each of us.
Let’s seek Mary and all the saints
    Who intercede for Jesus’ grace.
May His healing power flow to our hearts
And bring us the joy that He imparts.

    • Thanks, Jeannie. That is a beautiful poem you shared. The one I re-posted is something I wrote years ago when Sugar and I felt betrayed.

      • Yours is a great poem which caused me to realize that we are able to move beyond those times of anguish. Hopefully you and Sugar are counting your blessings! I believe you are!!
